2026 | Wallonia-Brussels International (WBI) continues to support the project of Namur in Masina (DRC) with the NGO PASCO

Projet PASCO

The City of Namur is launching a new partnership project with the NGO PASCO in the municipality of Masina, Democratic Republic of the Congo, thanks to a grant awarded by Wallonia-Brussels International (WBI) as part of its sustainable development co-financing programme.

Planned for 2026-2027, this project builds on a long-standing collaboration between the City of Namur and the municipality of Masina, developed since 2008 as part of municipal international cooperation (CIC).

Following an initial project successfully carried out in the fight against HIV and in reducing post-COVID stima, this new initiative focuses on MPOX prevention and response, while continuing HIV prevention and care actions.

The project aims to strengthen local capacities and improve access to information, healthcare and rights for vulnerable populations in Masina, a densely populated municipality of Kinshasa. The project plans community and school awareness actions, training for local actors, the establishment of voluntary and mobile screening, the acquisition of medical equipment, as well as communication activities through theatre, storytelling and media.

Particular attention is paid to combating misinformation and stigma, as well as promoting human rights, gender equality and public health. By combining community mobilisation, youth engagement and the consolidation of institutional frameworks, this partnership aims for a lasting impact for the benefit of the residents of Masina.

The City of Namur would like to thank Wallonia-Brussels International for its support, which makes it possible to continue and strengthen this cooperation to serve local populations.
