2026 | Philippe Gustin and Zachary Richard on the programme “Les Belges du bout du Monde”

Actu site RI - P. Gustin et Z. Richard

Zachary Richard’s visit to Namur provided the perfect occasion for Adrien Joveneau’s programme Les Belges du bout du Monde to connect with Philippe Gustin, our ambassador from Namur who has been living in Lafayette, Louisiana, for more than 50 years.

Originally from the province of Luxembourg and a teacher trained in Malonne, Philippe Gustin settled in Louisiana in 1974. A former director of the Lafayette International Centre, he has spent nearly fifty years building lasting ties between the Cajun community and the people of Namur.

This joint interview is an excellent opportunity to observe that the Francophonie of the Americas remains very much alive, partly thanks to teachers from our region who contributed to preserving the French language in Louisiana.

Alongside Zachary Richard, a major figure in Cajun music, Philippe Gustin bears witness to his passionate commitment to promoting the French language in his adopted state.

The programme was broadcast on La Première on Sunday, 22 March 2026, at 09:00.

It can be accessed at any time as a podcast on the RTBF Auvio platform. [FR]
