2026 | SWDE intervention in Québec at the conference “Reinventing the city: innovating in asset management and financing strategies”

As part of the international relations developed by the City of Namur with Québec, the International Relations Department facilitated an introduction between Les Affaires, a leading Québec business newspaper, and the Walloon Water Company (Société Wallonne des Eaux – SWDE).

This initiative led to an online presentation by Ms Isabelle Jeurissen, member of SWDE’s Executive Committee, during the conference “Reinventing the city: innovating in asset management and financing strategies”, held on 22 April 2026 in Montréal.

On this occasion, Ms Jeurissen presented a case study on water distribution in Wallonia, illustrating an example of resilient network management. The presentation highlighted the specific challenges faced in Wallonia: managing a network of nearly 40,000 km, supplying 3 million inhabitants, and adapting to growing pressures linked to climate, health, demographic, and socio-economic factors.
