2025 | Mission of the Namur Public Centre for Social Welfare in Terrebonne

From 11 to 15 September 2025, the Public Centre for Social Welfare (CPAS) of Namur carried out a mission to Terrebonne (Quebec, Canada) as part of the 2024-2026 collaboration agreement with La Hutte, an organisation specialising in supporting people experiencing homelessness. The delegation from Namur, led by Ms Dorothée Klein, President of the CPAS of Namur, met with the local authorities and the staff of La Hutte to learn from their innovative practices and exchange on effective and concrete intervention methods.

The mission included visits to various sites of La Hutte in the Laurentides, particularly in Terrebonne, Saint-Jérôme, and Sainte-Agathe, and participation in several key activities. The delegation met with local authorities and teams from the CISSS of Lanaudière, visited the CLSC, and observed the operation of night shelters, emergency beds, and transitional housing. These facilities combine low-threshold service, individualised support and assistance towards social reintegration, while respecting the privacy and dignity of everyone.
