On the occasion of the 2025 Wallonia Festival, the City of Namur welcomed Mr Gilbert Dardel, Mayor of Namur (Quebec), who came to celebrate ten years of friendship between the Wallonia Festival and its counterpart in Namur (Quebec).
During his stay, Mr Dardel was honoured by the Central Committee of Wallonia, which will propose him to the General Assembly as an honorary member of the association.

As part of the pilgrimage of remembrance, flowers were laid on the grave of Private Florian Filiatreault of the Royal 22nd Regiment.

Mr. Dardel also took part in the Remembrance Ceremony held at the Namur cemetery, where he paid tribute to soldier Florian Filiatreault of the Royal 22ᵉ Regiment by laying a wreath on behalf of his city. This moment of reflection highlighted the bonds of remembrance and brotherhood between Belgium and Canada.
The Quebec mayor also had the opportunity to visit the Citadel of Namur, taking the cable car and discovering the new immersive and permanent guided tour dedicated to the Middle Ages, an experience that showcases the city’s heritage and history.
Finally, the City of Namur congratulates Mr Dardel on his re-election as Mayor of Namur (Quebec) for a new four-year term.
