On 26 May 2025, Mr Piotr Serafin, European Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, visited Namur as part of his European listening tour. He was welcomed by Ms Anne Barzin, First Alderwoman and Alderwoman for International Relations of the City of Namur, and Mr Frédéric Laloux, Commissioner for International Relations of the City of Namur.

The delegation visited the Confluence site and the NID (Smart and Sustainable Namur), illustrating the tangible impact of European funding, especially from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), on innovation, town planning and local sustainable development.

The visit continued with a meeting with Mr Adrien Dolimont, Walloon Minister-President for Budget and Finance, followed by a hearing at the Parliament of Wallonia, providing an opportunity to discuss the impact of European investments for territories and citizens.

Commissioner Serafin emphasised the importance of local projects in demonstrating the effectiveness and concrete impact of the EU budget, while Ms Anne Barzin noted that the visit illustrated Europe’s commitment to communities and the dynamic urban transformation of the city centre.
