International Association of French-Speaking Mayors (AIMF)

Namur has been a member of the Association Internationale des Maires Francophones (AIMF) since 1993.

The AIMF is the global network of French-speaking local elected representatives. Together, they nurture the vision of a city of the future that promotes sustainable, shared growth and puts people at the heart of the urban project. They are developing a new form of cooperation that combines joint reflection at the highest level with action on the ground, giving priority to innovation and local expertise.

Each year, the AIMF meets in one of its member cities for a general assembly focusing on a specific theme. Namur is very active in the work of the Standing Commission on Innovative Cities, where it leads work on ‘Smart Cities’, as well as in the Commission on Living Together. It has also taken part in the work of the technical group of the Living Together Commission. It has been a member of the Bureau since 2018.
