Description

Masina is a commune located in the eastern part of the city of Kinshasa, between Pool Malebo to the north and Boulevard Lumumba to the south. It is one of the capital’s most densily populated emerging neighborhoods and is also known by the nickname “China”. It is home to the Marché de la Liberté, one of Kinshasa’s largest markets.

Namur and Masina have been twinned since 2003. Their cooperation is primarily implemented through various decentralised cooperation programmes:

  • Municipal international cooperation (Belgian federal cooperation): training, construction, equipment, public awareness campaigns, civil registry management, and archiving
  • Decentralised cooperation (Wallonia-Brussels International): health awareness in collaboration with the NGO Pasco
  • Development cooperation (Province of Namur): one-off contributions to strengthen certain aspects of the projects described above.
