Description
Quebec City is the national capital of Quebec, one of Canada’s provinces. It is located in the Capitale-Nationale administrative region. It is home to a number of institutions, including the Quebec Parliament.
In April 1991, the two cities signed a cooperation protocol. Their aim is to fully embrace their roles as capital cities. As historic cities looking to the future, they are faced with the challenges of protecting and enhancing their heritage, managing their development and their environment, and striving for a better quality of life.
Keen to contribute to the development of French-speaking solidarity, Quebec City and Namur have declared that they are associated to seek active collaboration in these areas, aiming, through joint reflection, to build a preferential network for the exchange of experience.
On 29 October 1999, the twinning charter was signed in Quebec City, reaffirming to their respective populations the openness conferred on them in North America and Europe by their status as
capitals and their leading role in regional development, respecting and serving their citizens.
Like Namur, Quebec City is a member of the AIMF.
